Clare Francis
Joint Managing Director, BAB / E-UK
After studying modern languages at university and a year teaching in France, Clare has spent her career in HR management and development. Seven years of employment in the private sector gave her the skills to branch out into the unknown and she set up BAB Limited in 1986 with Tony Robinson, a business partnership that survives to this day, due mainly to Tony’s supreme forbearance and sense of humour!
In the early years of BAB Limited Clare established a local salary and benefits survey and club and ran the BAB’s personnel helpline for small businesses, in addition to several interim/locum personnel management contracts with local companies, most notably with Minolta (UK) Limited. She was instrumental in promoting people focused qualifications for the Sales Qualifications Board and for the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative, various training initiatives for the Meat Training Council and in private sector and major direct selling companies.
Clare was heavily involved in the production of the first “Essential
Guide to Earning a Living from Independent Consultancy” and has recently
completed a major revision of the Guide, together with Tony Robinson.
She is responsible for the Guide and allied products and now works primarily
on the publications and copywriting side of the business, also assisting
with the organisation , planning and written materials for major communications
events for clients.
Clare is also a director of a small, family business. When not working, she prefers to sing, ski, cycle or spend time with her cats!
